ABOUT

Don Winsor is an American-born actor and baritone now living in Australia.

Currently adjusting to fatherhood and taking something of a hiatus after Don and his wife welcomed their first child in September 2018. Still taking on limited projects, though, and you can look for Don as a guest star in the upcoming final season of PREACHER and as Frank Terminelli on NEIGHBOURS. Later this year, Don will resurrect Dead Martin for THE DEAD MARTIN HOLIDAY SPECIAL in December.

Recently, Don was seen Marvin in the recent Australian production of FALSETTOS in Melbourne in 2018. Just before that, he appeared in the Julie Andrews-helmed 60th Anniversary production of MY FAIR LADY as principal cover for Henry Higgins, with Opera Australia/GFO.

Don was also recently seen around the world as one of the faces of the current Hot Wheels "Home Commentators" ad campaign, directed by Tony Rogers (Wilfred, How To Talk Australians), and in the Olivia-Newton John biopic HOPELESSLY DEVOTED TO YOU starring Delta Goodrem for Fremantle Media. He’s also been seen in campaigns for Cole’s, Cooper’s, Sportsbet, and others.

Don Winsor has performed all over the world in theatrical productions, symphony tours, film and television, cruise, and concert work. Favorite roles include over 300 performances as The Beast and about half that many as Gaston in DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Anatoly in CHESS, The Phantom in Yeston/Kopit’s PHANTOM, Chauvelin in THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, Billy Flynn in CHICAGO, Sam Carmichael on the national tour of MAMMA MIA, Harold Hill in THE MUSIC MAN, a few runs as Thomas Andrews in TITANIC, and an award-winning Pontius Pilate in several productions of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Don has performed as a guest soloist with several orchestras across the USA, toured as baritone soloist for the New Sigmund Romberg Symphony Orchestra, and been featured at corporate events all over the world and as a guest entertainer on many major cruise lines. Don is also a writer and regular contributor to various blogs and websites as a satirist, columnist, and blogger.

Don was the co-creator, (with Ray Wills) associate producer, and original writer of the Kansas Radio Theatre, currently airing across eleven US markets. Don is also the creator and star of THE DEAD MARTIN VARIETY HOUR, a late-night variety show that played a sold out run throughout 2015 and is currently in development for an Australian presence.

Don made his Australian debut in 2016, as Thomas Andrews in the Australasian premiere of the chamber version of TITANIC.

"Making his Australian debut, Don Winsor is immediately striking as Thomas Andrews, the Titanic's designer, with clear similarities to Simon Gleeson's Jean Valjean."

- Dani Rothwell, TheatrePeople

“Pitch perfect as the conflicted Pilate, every scene he's in has added nuance and depth."

- Jane Holhan, New Era

"The cast makes this evening worthwhile. In particular, Donald Winsor as the villain Chauvelin stands out with his powerful baritone voice and command of the stage.”

- Stuart Duncan, Princeton NJ Packet & TimeOFF

“As the Russian chess champion, Donald E. Winsor brings an air of steady, refined self-assuredness while his strong baritone makes the often-heard ‘Anthem’ a welcome, intimate surprise which betrays the vulnerability of a man lost at sea.”
